6/06, Tuesday Day 33 2974 Km's
Commercial
campsite ~ 20 Km shy of Nipagon, Ont. 104 Km's ~ 5:50 Hrs
Doug
tells me he has an itchy “nose.”
Got
up early but took a long time to get on the road. I mailed 5 Kgs of
stuff I have no use for back to Brother
Doug's
place. I sent some cold weather clothes and electronics including the
cell phone which never worked. About the time we were ready to roll a
thunder storm rolled in so we went back into the motel for a coffee
and a look at the paper.
Once
out of the motel we made two stops for food. Doug tells me that it
was 13:00 before we turned onto the highway. Another stop opposite
the Terry Fox Memorial. Doug
and I graduated high school with Terry. I hardly knew him. We moved
in different circles. He was a jock and hung around with the athletic
types, Doug and I were more nerdy, spending our spare hours in the
art room. Still, it's sad to think of him gone.
The
hills that people warned us about on this road have so far turned out
to be a single hill about 2 Km's long coming out of Thunder Bay
itself. Everything else is either short or shallow. So far.
Knee
ached for the last hour of riding. We'll see how it is tomorrow.
