Cycle Canada, Day 34, June 7/06

Saw a couple of cyclists heading west today. Yelled at them but they didn't respond. Probably just really tired. They looked to be dragging a bit.

Met 2 guys cycling east. Rick (Mark Longo really) is riding Vancouver to St. John's for "Public Access Defibrillators." I didn't talk to him much so I don't know if he was collecting signatures or cash. He's riding with Pierre. They met 2 days this side of Winnipeg. Pierre is riding the T.C.H. in 4 parts. Three years ago he did Quebec to St. John's then two years ago Sault Ste. Marie to Quebec, last year Vancouver to Winnipeg and this year Winnipeg to Sault Ste. Marie.

Also met Bill Quaille (1st cousin to the ex vice-prez.)

I'm a bit confused here because I also had Bill down as Bill Dole. Maybe Doug has a better memory than me. Bill was an interesting guy. About 72 and pushing himself pretty hard. - See the e-mail from about this time. - He was quite emphatic that we would have a better time riding if we used some "Butt Butter" to help against chaffing. I must say that I never had a problem with chaffing during the trip and If I did I'm not sure I would have used lube on my ass.
