Cycle Canada, Day 38, June 11/06

June 11/06, Sunday                                                                     Day 38                    3558 Km's
McCauly's Motel, about 40 Km's short of S.Ste. Marie                                            119 Km's              ~ 6:20 Hrs
It was 56.6 Km's to Agawa Bay campsite. 40 miles.
Met a cyclist coming the other way towards the end of the day. (Jake?) He said that he'd seen a fellow that sounded a lot like Rick (Mark) in Sault Ste. Marie at lunch and that he has wanted to make it to Thesalon by tonight. Jake is on a long term Walk-a-bout. Last year he rode from California to Vermont, where he spent the winter as a baker's assistant. Today he was going to Pancake Bay for a few days rest. Afterwards he's heading back through Sault Ste. Marie to the states and on to Montana where he will spend the winter as a ranch hand then cycle through the Rockies next spring.
Jake had some interesting gear including plastic bucket paniers and a compass that only pointed straight ahead.
Hotel owner is Australian, wife is Filipino (maybe) they bought this place 2 years ago & are slowly fixing it up. It's a blast from the 50's.
Don't know the name of the town. It was after Batchawana Bay and before Karalash Corners. Seemed to be a few hundred people there.
